4/19 Don Imus Controversy

1. According to the NAACP, why should Imus be silenced?

Because NAACP believes that if they took Imus out and forced a law of some sort then they might be able to avoid this again. Also NBC doesn't want to lose its people who watch the news.

2. According to Frank Rich, why should Imus not be silenced?

Because Frank Rich says that Imus was the only person who didn't blame anybody else or anything else for this. Like media or youtube. He took full respnsibilty for his action and he doesn't regret it. Also he said that the Rutgers never asked for him to be silenced. Freedom of speech!

3. Do you think Imus should be silenced? Why?

I agree with Frank Rich because everybody has the right to say anything they want to say. Just because Imus said one racial comment doesn't mean he should be fired from his job. I don't think at all the Imus should be fired because the Rutgers didn't ask for him to be fired or silenced. I'm also saying that he should be silenced because there is a place and time for that but it was on the news and the girls didn't do anything. They were just playing basketball for their school. So im half and half.
